Indoor & Outdoor Play Spaces

Bright Mosaic goes beyond traditional therapy settings with both indoor and outdoor play spaces that promote movement, sensory exploration, and active learning.

These areas help children practice real-world skills in more engaging ways, setting our centers apart from others.

The Bright Mosaic Clinical Advantage

Personalized OT Support

Sensory sensitivities, motor challenges, or daily routines don’t have to hold your child back. We design OT around what your child needs most, whether that is tolerating the seams in socks or climbing with confidence.

Indoor & Outdoor Skill-Building Spaces

Our large play areas are fun and therapeutic. Kids swing, climb, build, dig, and explore while developing the motor skills, sensory processing, and confidence they need for everyday success.

Real-World Skill Integration

Our therapy targets the everyday moments that matter most to your family: getting dressed without a struggle, holding a pencil comfortably, or staying calm in a busy classroom.

In-Center & In-Home Flexibility

Progress shouldn’t be confined to one setting. We deliver focused sessions in our North Texas centers and practice daily living skills where they happen, in your home.

Connected, Collaborative Care

Your child benefits from a connected clinical ecosystem. Our occupational therapists routinely collaborate with our speech and behavior teams under one roof, ensuring your child experiences consistent, reinforcing support across every area of development.

What Is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy helps children develop the skills they need for independence in their daily lives. The word “occupational” refers to the activities and routines that make up a person’s day: getting dressed, eating, playing, learning at school, interacting with peers, managing feelings, and moving their body confidently. An occupational therapist helps children do these things more effectively and independently.

How Occupational Therapy Helps

Occupational therapy supports your child’s growth through:

Fine Motor Skills
Building hand strength and coordination for writing, cutting, drawing, and other precise tasks.

Gross Motor Development
Supporting balance, coordination, strength, and confidence in running, climbing, jumping, and large body movement.

Sensory Regulation
Helping children manage sensory input and develop strategies for staying calm and focused.

Self-Care Independence
Building skills for dressing, eating, grooming, and managing daily routines.

Motor Planning
Improving the ability to think through and execute multi-step movements and tasks.

The Power of Collaboration: Occupational Therapy + ABA + Speech Therapy

Occupational Therapy stands on its own, and many children come to us for OT alone. When a child also receives Speech Therapy or ABA, having all three teams under one roof means shared goals, fewer mixed messages, and progress in one area supporting progress in another.

What to Expect

Once we have collected some basic information and verified your insurance, here is how the process works:

  1. Initial Evaluation
Your OT observes and assesses your child’s motor skills, sensory responses, self-care abilities, and developmental profile. You’ll likely complete a sensory questionnaire so the therapist understands your child’s specific needs and strengths.
  2. Personalized Treatment Plan
We create an individualized plan with specific, measurable goals tailored to your child’s needs, forming the foundation of progress-focused occupational therapy.
  3. Ongoing Progress & Adjustments
We track progress consistently, celebrate milestones, and adjust goals and strategies as your child develops and reaches each objective.
  4. Family Support & Home Strategies
Your OT trains you to recognize your child’s sensory patterns and build supportive sensory routines (sometimes called sensory diets) and motor planning strategies into your day at home, giving your child more practice opportunities and faster progress.

Frequently Asked Questions About Occupational Therapy

How do I know if my child needs occupational therapy?

Children may benefit from OT if they struggle with fine or gross motor skills, have sensory sensitivities, avoid messy play, have difficulty with self-care routines, struggle to focus, or have trouble with coordination and balance. An evaluation can clarify whether OT would help and in what areas.

Can OT help with daily routines and self-care?

Yes. Occupational therapy specifically supports independence in daily activities: dressing, eating, grooming, transitions, and routines.

Does my child need an autism diagnosis to receive occupational therapy?

No. Children don’t need an autism diagnosis, sensory disorder diagnosis, or any formal diagnosis to access OT. If you have concerns about your child’s motor development, sensory responses, or daily independence, an evaluation can help determine the best next steps.

Does my insurance cover occupational therapy?

Many commercial insurance plans cover pediatric occupational therapy. The exact coverage, copays, and deductible depend on your provider and plan. We are happy to verify your benefits and walk you through your options before care begins.

How long does occupational therapy take?

That depends on your child’s needs and goals. Some children make rapid progress in a few months; others benefit from longer-term support. Your OT will give you a realistic timeline and adjust it based on progress.
